Polybutylene Replacement.

The gray poly pipe in late-70s and 80s houses, replaced. Across Krugerville and 75 towns in North Texas, done by the licensed master plumber who quoted it.

What polybutylene replacement actually involves

Gray poly went into a lot of North Texas houses in the late seventies and eighties, and it fails at the fittings with no warning. Insurers know this and some will not write a policy over it. Replacing it is a planned job you schedule, rather than an emergency you get handed at two in the morning.

North Texas houses carry three generations of supply pipe. Galvanized in the oldest stock, which rusts closed from the inside until pressure drops. Polybutylene through the late seventies and eighties, which fails at the fittings without warning. Copper and PEX after that.

Whatever the answer turns out to be on your property, you will hear it from the licensed master plumber who is going to do the work, before the work starts. That is the difference between A+ and a company that sends a salesperson first.

A+ Plumbing covers polybutylene replacement from Krugerville out through Denton, Collin, Grayson, Cooke, Dallas, Tarrant, Wise and Rockwall counties, which is roughly a forty mile radius and seventy-five towns. Whether the property is a house in Aubrey, a restaurant in Frisco or an apartment complex in Denton, the same licensed plumber quotes it and the same one does it.

If you are not sure whether what you are seeing needs polybutylene replacement at all, that is worth a call on its own. Norman would rather tell you on the phone that you do not need him yet than sell you a visit you did not have to pay for.

Older fixtures are often better built than their replacements. Valve bodies in the established brands were made heavier, and rebuilding one is frequently the better call financially and practically.

You will not be sold a maintenance plan on that call, because there isn’t one.

What we check

Pinhole patterns in copper, which suggest water chemistry
Whether the run is accessible or buried in slab
Freeze exposure in attics, garages and exterior walls
What the supply pipe actually is: galvanized, polybutylene, copper or PEX
Pressure at a hose bibb, which tells you whether galvanized is closing up

Worth a phone call when

Rust-colored water on the first draw
Any fitting failure on polybutylene, which rarely happens only once
A drop in pressure at one fixture or across the whole house
Staining on a ceiling or a wall that grows
A water bill that stepped up without a change in use

Why the ground here matters

Clay soil movement

North Texas expansive clay swells and shrinks through the season. It moves foundations, and it moves the pipe running under and beside them. A line that was fine in spring can be pulled at a joint by August.

Mixed housing stock

Sherman, Denton and the older Dallas suburbs carry galvanized supply and cast iron drains. Celina, Prosper and Providence Village are new slab construction with PEX. Same county, completely different job.

How a job actually runs

01

You call

You reach Norman on (940) 231-5706. Describe what is happening and you get a straight answer about whether it is urgent.

02

We look at it

Diagnosis first. On a leak that means locating it properly before anybody opens a wall, a floor or the yard.

03

You get the number

What the work costs and what it does not include, before it starts. No surprises added at the end.

04

Then it gets done

The licensed plumber who quoted it is the one doing it. Permits pulled where the city requires them.

05

We clean up

Tools out, mess gone, yard put back. Tools out, mess gone, yard back the way it was.

06

You have our number

If something is not right, you call the same man who did the work.

Polybutylene Replacement questions

Are you licensed and can I check?

Texas Master Plumber license M-44741, held by Norman Alambar. You can look it up with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, and we would rather you did.

What areas do you cover?

Krugerville and about forty miles out: Denton, Collin, Grayson, Cooke, Dallas, Tarrant, Wise and Rockwall counties, seventy-five towns in total. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask.

Do I get the same person each time?

Yes. That is the point of a small shop. Norman Alambar has seen your property before, so the second call does not start from nothing.

How much does polybutylene replacement cost?

It depends on what we find, and anybody who gives you a firm number before looking is guessing. What you will get from A+ is the number before the work starts, not after. Call (940) 231-5706 and describe what is happening and you will get a straight answer about the likely range.

Who actually does the work?

Norman Alambar, the licensed Texas master plumber behind A+, license M-44741. On larger jobs he brings a second pair of hands. You are not handed to a rotating technician who has never seen your property.

How fast can you get out?

Often same day, and emergency work runs nights and weekends. One customer called at five thirty on a Saturday and we were on site inside the hour.

Fixed our water leak under the foundation. More than fair price and quick to get it fixed. Definitely found a great and honest plumber here.

We live in a 75 year old house. I crushed an old rusty galvanized pipe and water went everywhere. This was on a Saturday at 5:30 pm. Norman came to our house within an hour and had the job finished within the hour. Great personality and happy to help.

Norman and his helper were so good and very kind. They did a couple of extra things for me without hesitation.
